Your Yoga Teachers

All of our teachers are highly trained and passionate about what they do. We believe a yoga studio works best with a committed team of extraordinary people each of whom brings their own unique perspective while also working in a group to create a coherent offering.

Megan

Born and raised in Minnesota, nourished in New York City, Megan took her first yoga class in 2003 while studying abroad in Paris and began teaching four years later. Certified at Yoga to the People, Megan has completed the first Anusara Yoga Immersion at Virayoga and has studied anatomy with Amy Matthews at the Breathing Project. In 2012, she completed Kula Yoga Project's 75-hour Advanced Teacher Training program.

Megan strives to teach the kind of class she enjoys taking: balanced, creative, dynamic and intelligent. She is grateful to the teachers who inspire her—Elena Brower, Isaac Peña and Schuyler Grant—and to Hilary Edesess for taking her to her first yoga class.

Megan is an avid reader, and occasional book reviewer. She is particularly fond of the works of Javier Marias.

Caitlin

David

In 1999, while Prince was partying, David was taking his first meditation class. A steady practitioner ever since, he has been teaching since 2007. He apprenticed with Greg Gumucio, founder of Yoga To The People, and has completed many hundreds of hours of teacher training, including Isaac Peña's Sankalpah Yoga program. He has also completed the first Anusara Yoga Immersion, Bryan Kest's Power Yoga Teacher Training, as well as Gil Hedley's Integral Anatomy course.

David is a certified practitioner of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, and has trained in a variety of bodywork modalities. Born in England, he spent some years in France and Africa, before moving to New York City in 2006 and then Minneapolis in 2011. He plays several musical instruments and likes to sing, sometimes in the right key.

Jenn

Caitlin began teaching yoga in 2011 after completing her 230-hour certification. Before apprenticing at Your Yoga, she completed the ParaYoga Master Tantra Training with Rod Stryker and studied with Doug Swenson and his system of yoga, Sadhana Yoga Chi.

She has also done her fair share of meditation and star gazing at the Shambhala Mountain Center in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. She has since completed trainings in yin yoga with Michelle Pietrzak-Wegner, and restorative yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater.

Caitlin is committed to bringing yoga to people of any age and ability. From chair yoga for people living with movement restrictions, to restorative yoga for those in need of deep relaxation and everyone in between, she strives to make yoga accessible to any body.

Before following her path as a yoga teacher, Caitlin studied to be a sommelier with the International Sommelier Guild, and still enjoys the luxury of a glass of wine after a full day of teaching.

Anne

Anne began her yoga journey at a small studio in her hometown of Northern Minnesota in the natural setting of the Northwood Wilderness. Her practice flourished and expanded as she moved to Minneapolis and explored many different types and styles of yoga.

Her heart led her to Kripalu Center in Massachussetts where her passion for creative expression was nurtured and where she completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance teacher training. Anne received her 500 hour Yoga Alliance certification at Shri Kali Ashram in India, and completed an apprenticeship at Your Yoga in fall 2011.

Brooklynd

Brooklynd was born and raised in Texas. Although everything is ‘bigger’ there, she is actually quite small- but still tries to maintain a touch of Southern charm with everyone she meets in Minneapolis.

Inspired as a child to try to yoga by her grandparents’ practice, Brooklynd went on to take her first yoga class in Dallas at the age of fourteen. She fell in endless love with the meditation and postures, which left her longing for a studio when she moved to Minneapolis in 2012. Your Yoga’s unique philosophy and teaching made her feel as if she had found a second home, one that genuinely wanted her and all other students to blossom mentally and physically.

Brooklynd completed her 230-hour teacher training at Your Yoga in 2013 while pursuing a BFA in Illustration from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Both her teaching and artwork aims to help others cultivate self-love, and nurture a compassionate understanding of the beautiful world they live in.

Jenn first discovered the beauty of yoga at Yoga to the People during a brief stint in NYC. She continued to practice and research upon returning home to Iowa, and began to teach shortly after she received her certification under James Miller in 2011.

After graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in Dance and International Studies, Jenn moved up to Minneapolis to pursue a career as a professional dancer and choreographer. She currently dances with Threads Dance Project and choreographs for her company, Dance & Other Behaviors.

Not long after moving to Minneapolis, Jenn discovered Your Yoga, and the studio became a second home. She completed an apprenticeship at Your Yoga during the summer of 2013, and continues to geek out about anatomy and bodywork. She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow and learn as a teacher.

Jourdan

Yoga and Jourdan first collided in 2009. Taught by a colleague in an AmeriCorps program in Denver, using a bath towel instead of a mat, listening to music on a barely audible iPod, she struggled with connecting breath and movement together but found something kind of cool about the whole thing. Guided by a variety of teachers, life circumstances, and the desire to find calm amongst chaos, yoga has become her go-to.

In 2011 Jourdan found herself back in Minneapolis. She fell in love with the Your Yoga community and the dynamic practice, and hasn't looked back. In 2013, she completed teacher training at Your Yoga and the following autumn completed an additional 15-hour Street Yoga training, aimed at teaching a trauma-informed practice to people who might not normally have access to yoga.

Her hope is that students can find a sense of home within their own body, an understanding that they are enough, and a community of loving practitioners. Jourdan loves hiking and mountains, odd numbers, photography, and she snorts when she laughs.

Bre

Bre was first introduced to yoga at the age of 17 when she and her mother started attending yoga classes at a small community center in Bloomington, MN. In 2004, she received a BA from the College of St. Catherine in Studio Art and Philosophy, but something still felt lacking. In the winter of 2008, she completed a 200 hour vinyasa yoga teacher training and has since been certified to teach hot yoga. In the Spring of 2012, she completed an apprenticeship at Your Yoga.

Besides her commitment to the practice, Bre has a deep love for two things: riding her bicycle and painting.  Inspired by the human body in all forms, movement and shape feed her passion to be her best self, and more importantly, to enjoy the journey without a constant focus on the final outcome. Bre has had amazing experiences working with inspiring and beautiful students and teachers all throughout the city, and feels an incredible amount of gratitude to be a part of this community.

Jane

Jane first discovered yoga 17 years ago at the BKS Iyengar studio in Minneapolis as she began to explore new ways to overcome anxiety. There she learned alignment (particularly of her yoga mat), but more importantly, how to tap into that peaceful, easy feeling. She has been practicing ever since and believes yoga provides the greatest opportunity for self-study and growth.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Cultural Studies, a pursuit of creative writing led her to NYC, LA, and later Chicago. While in Chicago, Jane worked for a yoga products company and had the good fortune to attend lots of festivals and workshops, experiencing yoga through a variety of styles, teachers, and communities all over the country.

Jane completed her 230-hour teacher training at Your Yoga in 2014 and feels immensely grateful to be part of the Your Yoga community. She is fueled by the radiant teachers and students who surround her, road trips, animals, summer, listening to records, and eating all the french fries in the world!!!
